Begin each day anchored in purpose—feed your spirit before the world feeds you distractions.
Before the demands of the world even begin to tug at my attention, before my feet touch the floor, I start my day by feeding my spirit—fully, intentionally, and without compromise. At 4:30 AM, while the world is still quiet, I rise and engage in morning devotion. This is my sacred time. In those early moments, I align myself with something greater than myself—anchoring my soul in truth, clarity, and divine purpose.
As I continue preparing for the day, I put on my headphones and immerse myself in praise and worship music. This isn’t background noise—it’s spiritual reinforcement. It shifts the atmosphere within me and acts as armor for the battlefield I know I’m about to walk into.
Because let’s be honest—the world is full of distractions and temptations. Before the sun is high, my mind and body are likely to encounter a number of challenges: verbal confrontations, emotionally charged texts on social media, unsolicited opinions, old habits, gossip, or even personal desires that are trying to sneak in the back door. All of these are part of the daily grind, and without spiritual grounding, they can easily pull a person off-center.
That’s why I prioritize my spirit first. It is my fortress. My protection. It safeguards my soul—the eternal part of me—from being contaminated by the temporary frustrations and temptations of the day. When the spirit is full, the mind can be calm, and the body can be restrained. But if I allow the spirit to go unfed, then I’m stepping into a war with no armor and no strategy. This isn’t just a routine. It’s a commitment to spiritual authority. I choose to rule my day from the inside out—not to be ruled by whatever chaos comes from the outside in. Every day I choose to lead with the spirit, because when the spirit is strong, everything else falls into alignment.
